How To Make A Baby’s First Christmas Special

baby crawling up to christmas presents

My baby’s first Christmas is one I’ll never forget. Little E was almost eight months old last Christmas and, despite turning her nose up at the sprouts, she had a great day. As you can imagine, she was spoiled rotten. However, if I could have that first Christmas again, I would do more to make it extra special. Therefore, if you’re planning for your baby’s first Christmas or looking for the perfect first Christmas gift, here’s my top advice.

Letter to Santa

Little E’s first letter to Santa was written for my blog. But I would have loved to have sent one to the big man himself and have got a reply to add to her memory box. Therefore, this year, we’ll definitely be sitting down and writing a note to Father Christmas in the hope of a reply. The Royal Mail do letters from Santa, although there’s no guarantee of a reply. I also like the look of the ones from Funky Pigeon and Santa Letter Direct.

Christmas Eve box

I love the idea of Christmas family traditions and I think presenting Little E with a Christmas Eve box each year is perfect. Sadly, I didn’t think to give her one last year, but I’m all set to go for her second Christmas. Her box will contain new pyjamas, a festive book, Peppa Pig Christmas DVD, chocolate coins, reindeer food, and fairy dust. I’ve already got all these bits and I’m excited to put it all together and present it to her now.

Personalised stocking

There’s something about a stocking which screams Christmas. However, a personalised stocking is the perfect pre-Christmas gift as you know it’ll be treasured for years to come.

I was lucky enough to be sent this gorgeous personalised snowman stocking from and I think it’ll look stunning on our fireplace over the festive season.

I like how it’s different to other stockings in that it’s not bright red or green. It’s also lightweight and folds up easily which is great for post-Christmas storage. But it’s the personalisation which really makes this stocking stand out. The print is clear and easy to read. Therefore, we’ll always know that it belongs to Little E.

You can buy your very own personalised snowman stocking for just £9.99 from Funky Pigeon.

Personalised Christmas book

A personalised Christmas book which features your child as the main character will make any child’s Christmas. Not only will it make for a lovely read, but it will be a beautiful keepsake, too.  I’m disappointed that I didn’t think to buy one as a gift last year, so I’ll definitely make up for it this year by buying a beautiful personalised one for Little E.

Other baby’s first Christmas gifts to consider

Still not sure what gift will make your baby’s first Christmas extra special? How about giving one of these this Christmas?

  • 1st Christmas cracker
  • Pyjama set
  • Photo album
  • Personalised bauble

What gifts are you buying to mark your baby’s first Christmas?

I was kindly gifted the stocking included in this review by for the purpose of this post. However, all opinions are my own.
