When a new baby is born, he or she is usually bombarded with gifts. This is often a great help to new parents as babies need so many things. Of course the new baby deserves to be spoiled, but with mum having done all the hard work, I think it’s only fair that they get spoiled too. But what do you buy a new mum?
Personalised gift basket
This was my favourite gift. Mine was packed full of candles, chocolate, hand cream and bubble bath and was just what I needed. Gift baskets are great as you can buy them pre-made or create your own. No matter what your budget, a gift basket will be well received by any new mum.
Chocolate and wine
After 9 months of no alcohol, treat the new mum to a fancy bottle of wine and some chocolates. Be careful if she’s breastfeeding though.
A selection of freezable meals
Cooking with a newborn in tow is tough. Exhaustion often results in new parents reaching for the takeaway menu. So, prepare some tasty meals which the new mum can freeze and enjoy at her own leisure. Lasagne, pasta bakes, chilli and cottage pie are all winners.
Amazon Prime/Netflix pass
In the early days a baby will sleep for as much as 18 hours a day. Let mum enjoy her downtime by catching up on the latest boxset with a tv pass. We have Amazon Prime and are currently making our way through Arrow and Lucifer.
Not sure what to buy? A gift card is always a winner. But give strict instructions that mum must spend it on herself and not her new bundle of joy.
Treat the new mum to afternoon tea. Sites such as Red Letter Days sell vouchers for tea at locations right across the country. Alternatively, buy an afternoon tea set or create your own so that the new mum can enjoy it in the comfort of her own home.
Any new parent will be thankful for a promise voucher. Simply create your own voucher, pop it in a nice presentation box and give the new mum the opportunity to cash it in whenever she wishes.
Babies feed a lot, so let mum pass the time by enjoying the latest ebook releases.
A pamper session
Either treat the new mum to a pamper session in the comfort of her own home by showcasing your skills or calling in a professional. Alternatively, take her a way for the afternoon to enjoying a relaxing break at a spa.
