Weaning – Week 1

Two boxes of baby rice, two oink feeding bowls and a jar of baby food sitting on a wooden table in front of a blue wall

We started weaning a little early due to several reasons and, following a conversation with our health visitor, we decided it was for the best.

Thankfully, little one has taken to weaning like a duck to water. Everything we’ve fed her she’s loved and she’s wanted more of it. She’s definitely going to love her food! Baby is currently on a combination of baby rice and vegetable or fruit purees which I’ve made myself. So here’s how she got on during her first week of weaning.

Day 1
Dinner – Sweet potato puree

Understandably, she was a little unsure to start with and after her second spoonful she started to choke and then threw it all up. However, we carried on and she happily managed a few more spoonfuls without any further problems.

Day 2
Dinner – Sweet potato & carrot puree

Adding the carrot to the sweet potato seemed to go down much better with baby and she appeared to enjoy it more. The consistency seemed a little nicer too!

Day 3
Lunch – Baby rice

Day 4
Lunch – Peach puree
The peach was a complete winner. She gobbled it down and was asking for more.

Dinner – Cauliflower & parsnip puree

Cue more funny faces as we introduced new flavours, but after a couple of spoonfuls she was happy to finish the lot.

Day 5

Overall, it was a good week and I’m pleased with the progress we’ve making and the different flavour combinations she’s tried so far.
