Weaning - Week 2

Sweet potato, parsnip and carrot sitting on a wooden table

Little one has completed her second week of weaning and, unfortunately, we experienced a few problems this week as she was unable to do a dirty nappy for 48 hours and seemed very uncomfortable. We introduced potato and spinach this week and think this may have caused the problem, so we're going to hold off on feeding her this again for a week or two.

We're still really happy with how she's getting on with her food. She's happy to give anything a go and hasn't moaned or cried at any of the food we've offered her and whenever she sees a spoon anywhere near her, she opens her mouth wide, even if there's nothing on it!

To see how we got on during our first week of weaning, please see here.

Here's what she ate during week 2 of weaning and how she got on:

Day 1
Lunch - Baby rice & pear puree
Dinner - Potato & spinach puree

I was a little worried about introducing the spinach as it's a strong flavour, but little one was happy to eat it.

Day 2
Lunch - Baby rice & pear puree
Dinner - Potato & spinach puree

Day 3
Breakfast - Baby rice & pear puree
Dinner - Sweet potato & carrot puree

We switched back to the sweet potato & carrot puree after little one struggled to go to the toilet following the potato & spinach meals we'd been feeding her. Sweet potato and carrot definitely seems to be her favourite vegetable flavour combination.

Day 4
Lunch - Baby rice & pear puree
Dinner - Sweet potato & carrot puree

Day 5
Lunch - Baby rice & pear puree
Dinner - Sweet potato, carrot, parsnip & cauliflower puree

Little one had one ice cube size of sweet potato & carrot puree which I mixed with we one ice cube of parsnip and cauliflower puree - this was a winner too! She seems to really enjoy her vegetables mixed together.

Day 6
Lunch - Baby rice with apple & pear puree
Dinner - Sweet potato & carrot puree

Day 7
Breakfast - Baby rice with apple & pear puree
Dinner - Hipp Organic Vegetable Medley Jar

We were out visiting family so it was easier to take a jar of baby food with us. We'd picked up a jar of Hipp Organic and got refunded the cost of it via the Shopmium app, so this seemed the perfect time to use it. Baby was just as happy to eat this as she is the purees I've made.
